Printed Tryptych Panels

Puffin Glow

Charming set of three images. Work well together. Tones need to blend slightly better- warmer needed on the left. Held.

Coloured Glass

As a panel, these are very appealing. Technical quality is good, great translucence to the glass. Colours are excellent. Could go well on a wall. Angular shots on either end are good. First.

ICM Black and White Study

Monochrome works well. Very strong images and good use of ICM. Centre image is very spooky. Left hand image is slightly out of kilter due to the busy-ness. Held.

Flamingos of the Camargue

Technical quality is very good, well controlled shadows and highlights. Slight over sharpening on beak on the right hand image. Well selected images.

Swan Lake

Strong set of images. Uniformity across the images is very good. Photoshop tip- Windows>info>luminance value of each pixel. This can help match backgrounds. Second.

Harvest Mice

Good idea for a panel. Left hand shot leads us in. Commended.

The green green grass of Home

They work really well as a panel. Slight angle on each outer image is good. Commended.

Life Under the Underpass

Monochrome conversion very good. Some burnt highlights, but works well in this case. The highlights and shadows in the two outer images lead well in to the centre. Great composition. Tells a good story. Held.

The Wonderful World of Macro

Really well done individual images. Great bold colours, with the green linking them together. Ladybird could be better as the centre image, as red is such a dominant colour. Commended.

Rotating Lily

Print quality is delightful. Control of highlights is great. Lovely layout, works very well. Stronger lighting maybe needed, slightly dark as prints. Commended.

Seashore

Groynes in the two outer images lead well to the centre. Leading lines are echoed.  Left hand image could be cropped to remove the sun. Horizon levels need to be better matched. Good textures and tones.

Room with a Loo

Great to have fun with photography! Great print quality. Good choice of colour, and great well balanced colour. Highly commended.

An Eclectic Mix

Excellent, captured moments, Nice and sharp with good depth of field. Images are slightly too separate, not a strong enough link to make them a panel.

From All Angles

Quite attractive, vegetation at the end of its life. Stem used at each end to lead you in. Slightly too grey, maybe lift background tones a bit.

Ella in Motion

Like the balance, but slightly too tight in the frame. Charming set. Third.

Valerian in Vases

Like the method of display, the black board helps bring the images together. Even print density across all three, helps them match. Vase position on two outer images is good. Right hand vase could drop down a few millimetres to match.

DPI Triptychs

Pick n Mix

Great appeal. Like the colour on the two edges, and lack of colour in the centre image, as this draws the viewer in. Rounded corners hark back to the trays of sweets in shops. Great vision from the photographer. Second.

Up, Up and Over

Tells a good story, would also work as a panel. Flows across the image nicely. Balance of the crops on each image are good. Centre image is a bit more zoomed in, making it larger in the frame. Outer two images need to be more matched on the zoom level.

All Tied Up

Very well planned and staged. Excellent work by the model to give the correct feeling of being pulled. Hues of the background work nicely. Held,

Performing on the Rings

Slightly too much white around the image, a stroke line would help, or less of the white surround. Good, well caught moments with good lighting. Well posed and good choice of shots. Mono works well, and helps focus the subject. Held.

I Can See You

Triptyches are meant to create 4 images- this works well. Nice and sharp on the mouse, good depth of field. Right hand image might have worked better on the left to have it leading in. Centre image is very strong, good colour and direct look. Switch the left and right to have both looking inwards.

Abstract View

Great image, lots of look at and interpret from the poses of the observers. Good story. Alignment of outer two images is good. Right hand image could be cropped slightly to remove grey area at top of image, to match with left hand Image. Small details matter. Highly Commended.

All White

Interesting study, the swan is a good pose. Reflections on left and right are strong and work well. Middle image without reflection is good. Held

Meadow Grass

Good choice of images, the diagonal on the two outer images leads you to the centre image. Busy backgrounds could do with tidying up. Held.

Rock Solid

Intriguing shot. Very cleverly done, builds across the image and forms a great peak. Background colours are strong. Third.

Flying High

Strong image. Like the three individual images, but could have done with variety in the levels- make them slightly more portrait, and add a little more height, make the centre image so the rider is higher in the air. Good mono conversion. Held.

Horses of the Camargue

Three really beautiful images, with great control of the light. Not a traditional triptych- as doesn’t form a fourth image when all together. However, the three images together do tell more of a story of the life of the horses. Commended.

Discussion

Cleverly done, shadow of the figure links across, as does the heal of the gentleman, very strong. If taken individually, the two outer images lack excitement.

Life’s Tangled Web

The fourth image isn’t as strong as it could be, but the three images are well done. Well put together, but lacks link and flow through the images. A little too discordant.

Pink Connection

Crops of the fabric at the edges of the images are a bit unfortunate, but don’t really matter to the image. Like the flow across, almost perfect. Love the neutral background, and great colour. Good skin tones. Commended.

Sleep Well

A bit scary! Like the balance of the images, with the wider view on the outer two images, and the tighter zoom on the centre. Creates tension. Held.

Biscuit Tray Abstract

Quite inspirational! Images from everyday objects are great. Tones are strong. Could be improved by slightly more tightly matching some of the lines/curves on the tray across the whole image. Highly commended.

The Changing Door- St Mary’s Axe, London

Like this image a lot. Very graphic, great location. Placement of the legs in the outer two images is great, as is the pop of colour in the door on the left. What could the narrative be? First.

Catching Supper

Centre image caught at exactly the right moment. Tells a story- could be either panel or triptych. Held.

Fretters on Tour

Excellent job of managing the blue, really brings across the texture. Choice of grey background in the centre, and warmer outer images is good. Two outer images need tones looking at- right is quite a lot darker than the left, Centre image catches the eye, due to the pose. Held.

Awaiting an Order

The three shots could be more suited to a panel. Well captured moments in the three shots. Doesn’t as well make a set of three creating a fourth image.

Wheels

Strong triptych. The crop on each image works well to link the three images. Commended.

Tea for Three

Very clever, each is quite a good image on its own, but all three together create a good fourth image. Held.

From a Different Perspective

Good idea, but needs a few improvements. Red is slightly too strong a colour for the background colour. Good be improved by lining up the horizons in each.

Atrium Geometry

Geometric shapes in monochrome work well. Central image being simpler and more high key works well. The three images don’t link too strongly together.

Kings Cross Station

Dark image in the centre works well, but needs an edge to separate it from the background. Right hand image is very strong, with great leading lines. The emphasis across the three images is interesting. Held.

Close Encounters of the Floral Kind

Left and right hand shots are good, great tones on these. Central image not as strong. Works as a triptych to a limited degree, mismatched colour unbalances the image.
