Mono

We Were Loved Once- foliage gives feeling of a forgotten place. Cloud in the centre of sky draws the eye and is a tad heavy. Could it be cropped below branch that goes across most of the frame? Brightness on the left is ok, not burnt out. Lovely shed, don’t need detail in the shadow areas. Good contrast.

I Used to be Useful- brought the sky highlights down to emphasise shed as the main subject. Post on the left is ok as it points towards the shed. Waste ground in the foreground adds to the sense of abandonment. Bit of grain in the sky is ok.

Organised Chaos- stroke line is very good and lifts the image. Angle of the image is good, diagonal rather than straight is better.

Garden Shed- Strong sunlight from the left, slight bend on the welly is good. Brightness at the top right is distracting and could be tidied up,

So that’s where you’re Hiding- lovely image. Lots of interest. First.

The Shed- good black and white image in terms of quality, but possibly not in composition- diagonal would add interest. Bags on right are a distraction. Commended.

The Grain- are we looking vertically? Does it depict the shed? Like the left and right hand top corners. Possibly need to balance top left to darkness of top right. Lines up the centre lead you nicely into the image.

Retirement- lovely image. Third.

Tool Oganisation-

Time to Rest- appearance of slight damp adds to the picture. Table in the centre is too burnt out. Window on right needs darkening slightly.

Step Back in Time- strong light from the left which lights the scene. Second.

Size Matters- nicely arranged. Vignette handled nicely. Tonal range is good. Triangle is good. Highly commended.

Stone Portal- door is sharp, blurred grass foreground is good. Commended.

It will soon be Spring- lovely tone. Bottom right is an issue- is there another window behind which is causing flare? This flare takes away detail. Would benefit from a stroke line.

When the Rain Came- A stroke line would help. Good image. Darken down the top right a bit more. Highly commended.

Where did I put those Dividers?- why leave the board with the writing in- bit too bright and doesn’t help. Light reflects on to the rag and makes that too bright.

The Tool Shed- Slatted window lets light through and is a bit distracting. Commended.

The Dilapidated Man Cave- draws you in. Cloud has been handled well. Tad dark on the right hand side of the shed. Commended.

Mud Kitchen- lens choice maybe makes it look a bit wonky. Sky at the top needs darkening a bit.

Wood Store- Makes you read the image from the right to left which is unusual but works for this image. Some areas where it’s a bit too bright. Good contrast, but maybe darken the roof a bit. Sky on the top left has been darkened.

Colour

No Entry- black background lifts the picture. So much to see and enjoy.

What a Mess- like the diagonal directing you into the image. Nicely cropped/framed. Commended.

Shed Happenings- out of focus background is good. Bright coloured blobs on right are distracting. Commended.

The Family- well constructed image. Green in centre between the dark wellies could do with removing. Highly Commended.

Garden casualties- Flower adds a nice bit of colour, and the red works with the red on the trowel. Wood colours are nice. Turquoise gloves have lost a bit of detail in the texture on the outside. Highly Commended.

Not quite Fort Knox- needs a stroke line to help the image. Strong image, good idea to go for detail. Texture in wood is excellent. Third.

Morning Glory- Good, strong composition. Highlights handled well, and sharp throughout. Sky pales down to turquoise colour nicely. Commended.

Hard as Nails- lovely set up. Focus point on tip of nails, which works well with shallow depth of field. Diagonal from left to right works well. Highly Commended.

That’s What I Call a Shed- really sharp, good detail. Sky has been darkened nicely.

The Avian Shed- Nice stroke line, and well-handled sky.

Gardener’s Dream- pastel colours work really well. Lots of stuff that gives great interest. Second.

Lazy Days- slants to the left- but can just about get away with it. Fun shot.

Time to Prune- Rustic feel is good. Secateurs- concern that handle has been cropped, but works in this image. Good composition. Commended.

Sanctuary- Angle is good, looking for the diagonal. Texture in flagstones is good. Sky has been darkened well. First.

Going Potty- Not good enough representation of a shed. Foreground items are good additions. Brick work is well done, with slight blur. Top right has slight bright area that could be removed.

On the Shelf- Nicely lit, shows textures well, and darkens as we move across the shot. Blue mark at the top right could be removed.

Garden Shed, Alpine Style- pretty, bright sunny. Barrow with plants is lovely. Doesn’t really fit the category.
